Jordan McKittrick is a 15-year-old high school student in the Santa Fe, New Mexico public schools. He is also a student filmmaker at Santa Fe Community College. This is his first film.
Inspired by the atomic bomb survivors and their visit to the birthplace of the bomb, Los Alamos, New Mexico, Jordan decided to do this film.
“They weren’t angry,” Jordan said. “That’s the thing that stood out most for me about filming them.”
Rosemary McKittrick, Jordan’s mother, worked alongside him on the direction, production and editing of this film. She is an antiques columnist and also a student filmmaker at Santa Fe Community College. This is her first film.
“The anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima was a time of reflection for all of us who were in Los Alamos 60 years to the day after it happened,” Rosemary said.
“The primary intention of this film was to capture the experience of two survivors who were in Hiroshima and Nagasaki when the bomb was dropped. A second intention is to further a dialogue about living in a world with the threat of nuclear annihilation.”
